Charlotte Regional Farmers Market

Location: 1801 Yorkmont Rd. Charlotte, NC 28217

Hours: 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday year-round (8 a.m.-5 p.m. October-March), plus 12-6 p.m. Sundays May-August.

Details: This year-round market is one of five farmers markets owned by the State of North Carolina and operated by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Several buildings, including greenery shed and a craft barn; produce area includes baked goods, locally grown, sustainably grown and old-variety fruits and vegetables, locally raised meats, goat milk cheeses and soaps.

Take I-77 to Billy Graham Parkway (or South Tryon Street), turn left on N.C. 49, then right on Yorkmont. Market is 1 mile on the left.

Details: Mostly local produce, herbs, eggs, honey, baked goods, pickles and relishes, soaps, plants and flowers, homemade candy.

Matthews Community Farmers Market

Hours: 7:15 a.m.-noon Saturdays through November; 8-10 a.m. every other Saturday December through March. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays late May-August.

Details: This is a producer-only year-round open air and indoor market. All local produce, plus baked goods, locally raised meat, eggs, mushrooms, goat cheese and flowers, music, Chefs' Secrets classes and occasional family activities.

From N.C. 51, take East John Street to downtown, then turn left on North Trade.

From I-485, take Exit 52 and follow John Street to downtown, then turn right on North Trade. Parking behind the market.
